Is mindset and mentality the same thing? lets find out
My definition of Mindset is how you CHOOSE to see things
I have seen many times that we use the word ‘mentality’ and think it is similar or same as ‘mindset’
But there is a difference.
– Mindset is what you CHOOSE to consider/not consider/do/not do.
– Mindset is what you comprehend about life around you,
– what you think about people, events, situations
Mentality is closely related to mindset.
– Mentality is defined as a ‘learnt way of thinking’ by vocabulary.com
I feel connected to this definition.
I feel this is the right phrase to use (learnt way of thinking)
In short:
Mindset is how you interpret things at any given point.
This can change whenever you want, however you want.
Mentality on the other hand is a compounding effect or a collection of your daily mindsets
for example: If you remain in a ‘determined’, ‘optimist’ and ‘resilient’ mindset every single day;
you will develop a way of thinking of a person who is determined and optimistic about life and situations in general
This developed way of thinking or learnt way of thinking is your ‘mentality’
So fix your mindset, grow your mindset, and eventually your mentality will shift.
Mindset matters most!
